Drive positive change in Kiambu County through KCEN’s empowerment and advocacy initiatives.

About KCEN

KCEN was founded in 2018 and officially registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2009 under the Kenyan law. KCEN is a network of youth Serving Organizations based in Kiambu County which seeks to advocate, educate and create change for issues affecting youth and the society at large. KCEN seeks to break the self-perpetuating cycle of exclusion of young people to actively participate in achieving sustainable development goals those that fall under their dockets and communally. KCEN implements programs that empower young people and provides a platform to amplify their voice in development.

As a network, KCEN has been at the forefront in fighting for social justice through various interventions which have resulted in improved service delivery and accountability. KCEN has also been active in the civic space and has published an informed voters’ guide whose aim is improving accountability and voter education.

In this strategic plan, KCEN will continue to deepen these interventions through its three strategic pillars/priorities namely: good governance, economic empowerment and livelihoods and social wellbeing and equity including climate adaptation and gender equity as cross cutting areas. For greater impact and sustainability, KCEN will maintain strategic approaches of advocacy and capacity development; while championing young people’s matters both at policy and service delivery levels. In this new strategic phase, KCEN will seek to build its capacity and carry out applied research which will ensure more strategic and positioned evidence-based advocacy.
